Supreme Court sidesteps decision in Michigan case about poor defendants

The U.S. Supreme Court passed up a chance to decide whether Michigan can deny state-funded appeals to defendants who have pleaded guilty. "Michigan officials are proceeding at their peril if they follow this law, which is certainly in question," said David Moran, a Wayne State law professor.
